Sacred Vows

– Vows to My Children –

I am happy to announce that on June 24, 2023, I exchanged vows with my partner and four kids. After three years of sharing our lives, hearts, and home, we decided to celebrate and symbolize our commitment to one another. Though no words could express the gratitude, admiration, respect, and awe I have for my partner and kids, I hope you can feel the smallest inkling of the unbounded love I have for them.

Vows to My Children

I vow to you, children of the forest, my precious cubs, to do everything in my power to keep you safe, to keep you free from harm. I vow to respect you, to treat you with reverence, care, and affection.

I vow to never stop reminding you of how precious you are, vow to never stop marveling at the miracle and majesty of your being, vow to never stop pointing you to your own divinity, to the boundless ocean of love and peace that sits at the core of your being. I vow always to embrace you, to accept you, to recognize and acknowledge your value and worth in this family and in this world. I vow to take an interest in you, to listen to you, to make you feel seen, felt, heard, and understood.

I vow to counsel and educate you, but never to force my understanding on you. I vow to point you back to yourself, to your own heart, to the only place where truth, beauty, and goodness exist. I vow to encourage you to develop your own understanding, to follow your own interests and pursue your own aims. I vow to always fight for and defend your freedom, to do everything I can to prepare the soil for you to blossom into your own unique flower, your own unique expression of love.

I love you, kiddos, without question or condition. I hope you already know and feel that deeply. You each are such a bright light in my life and in this world. I can only marvel at what a blessing it is to be a part of your life, to wake to your cuddles, to witness your goodness, to know your laughter, to share your tears and your pains. I am so incredibly happy to be your dad. I’m so excited to move through the seasons of life and of the earth with you, to explore and open our hearts to her ten thousand joys and ten thousand sorrows.

May you, my precious humans, be at ease. May you rest in eternal stillness. May you truly be at peace.
